| The Recording areas selected for the Average Crime Rates for the Last Three Years for a chosen area is all the recording areas
with in a half mile radius of the selected area.
The recording areas selected in yellow in the recording area layer are shown visually in the interactive layer as the area shown in yellow.
The visible layer on the map is the layer that represents visually the street locations. This is used for locating specific locations. This layer is the interactive layer.
Once a location is selected, it is marked on the interactive layer to visually represent the area selected.
Along with marking the visual interactive layer the non visible recording area layer is marked corresponding to the location selected in the interactive layer
Once the location has been selected all recording areas with in a half-mile radius of that location are selected, and are represented in yellow. The half-mile radius is represented by the red circle, and the recording areas selected are those are with in, and touching the circle.
Often times an island may be created. An island is created when a recording area is not selected by the circle, but all it's surrounding recording areas are.
The selected recording areas and half mile radius is represented on the interactive layer. |
